Taya Maddock, a distinguished artist in her own right, was nurtured in a creatively enriched environment from a young age as the daughter of the renowned artist, Anny Maddock. Her artistic journey began with the strokes of a paintbrush and the allure of the canvas at an early stage in her life.
During her formative years, Taya’s talent blossomed as she attended the Lady Grey Arts Academy in the Eastern Cape. There, she showcased her artistic prowess alongside her musical gifts, excelling as a pianist and leading the school choir. Notably, she earned recognition as the most gifted artist in the school, setting the stage for her remarkable future in the art world. Her exceptional talent did not go unnoticed, with an adjudicator from the Unisa Art Department remarking that her work displayed university-level quality when she was just 13.
Completing her final two years of schooling at Hermanus High School, Taya continued to refine her artistic skills. She attended adult art classes under the expert guidance of artist Shelley Adams, achieving a perfect score of 100% in her Art Practical exam at the culmination of her Matric year.
Post-matriculation, Taya pursued her studies in Web/Graphic design and became a qualified teacher. In her spare time, she continues to share her passion for art through teaching.
For the past five years, Taya Maddock has dedicated herself to a full-time career as a professional artist. Her work has garnered international recognition and demand, attracting collectors from around the world.
